Rahul was enjoying his evening playing badminton when his phone suddenly rang. It was an unknown number, but because many deliveries arrive unexpectedly these days, he did not ignore the call. The person on the other end claimed to be a delivery agent and said that a product was on the way to Rahul’s address. Rahul immediately replied that he had not ordered anything and there must be some mistake.

The caller did not hesitate. He calmly repeated Rahul’s home address, which made Rahul nervous. Hearing his own address made him believe the caller might be genuine. The fake delivery agent then said a confirmation OTP had been sent to Rahul’s mobile number and that Rahul must share it to cancel or confirm the delivery. Rahul, feeling confused and slightly pressured, looked at his phone and saw an OTP message arrive.

Without fully thinking, Rahul began to read the numbers aloud. He said, “Seven four…” and was about to continue when suddenly his friend, who was standing next to him, stopped him immediately. His friend quickly warned him not to share the code and told him it was a common scam. He explained that real delivery companies never ask for OTP on phone calls and that scammers use OTPs to reset passwords or steal money.
Rahul froze in fear when he realized how close he was to being scammed. If he had finished reading the OTP, his bank account or email could have been compromised within seconds. The caller became aggressive when Rahul refused to continue, but Rahul ended the call and blocked the number. His friend helped him check his phone and advised him to reset important passwords just to be safe.

This experience taught Rahul a life-changing lesson. OTPs are meant to be secret, and sharing one is as dangerous as giving your house keys to a stranger. Scammers use fear, urgency, and personal information to confuse people into making mistakes. They may pretend to be delivery agents, bankers, or service providers, but their goal is always the same—steal your data or your money.
Never share your OTP with anyone, no matter how convincing they seem. No bank, courier company, or service provider will ever ask for your OTP over a call or message. If someone does, it is a scam. Stay alert, educate your family and friends, and remember that one OTP mistake can lead to major financial loss.
🚨 Awareness
🔐 One OTP can unlock your entire life.
Never share it. Not with anyone. Not for any reason.
